rp7410 and HP-UX 11.0

Will HP-UX 11.0 work on a rp7410? The server spec seems to suggest that HU-UX 11i is the only supported operating system.

Re: rp7410 and HP-UX 11.0

Chris,

From the February '02 Price Guide, it is the only orderable OS (11i). According to the config guide, it's the only supported OS at this release. That information may be updated since February.

Re: rp7410 and HP-UX 11.0

Hi,

The rp7410 only supports 11i. The reason is
that this new model of the old 'N' class
has the new capabilities of 'OLAR'
(On Line Replacement) of components. This
means that certain pieces of hardware can
be replaced without the need for an outage.
The 11.0 version does not cater for this.
You could possibly run 11.0 on the box but
it wouldn't be supported by HP.

Re: rp7410 and HP-UX 11.0

I'm looking for the list of replaceable parts, in which downtime is not required.

I checked: http://docs.hp.com/hpux/hw/index.html#rp7410%20Server

with no luck.

Re: rp7410 and HP-UX 11.0

Hi Kristopher,
Any PCI card with redundancy can be replaced (ie, a fibrechannel card with dual pathing on a seperate card) with proper OLAR procedure. In a dual partition system any of the cell hardware (cpu, memory, VRM and the cell itself) in one partition can be replace while the other runs on. The Bulk power supplies can be replaced (as long as redundant power exists) Any of the fans except cpu fans. Internal mirrored disks can be hot plugged.

Cheers
