rp8400 - hba card

Hi

I like to know anyone tried removing hba card from the unused chassis of rp8400, if so can it be done online without interrupting the production chasis/cell....

Thx in advance for the details/suggestions

Re: rp8400 - hba card

Hi Bkumar,
If there is nothing running on the cell connected to that chassis (cell0 to io chassis 0, cell1 to io chassis 1) then there is nothing stopping you as both chassis are on totally seperate power domains and SBA's. I have done it often on live systems.

Re: rp8400 - hba card

I have also done this many times.
Have a look at the 'rad' command. It will do the job for you.

# rad -q (should show you your slot numbers)
Suspend the slot from software use for the slot in question.
Turn off power to the slot
Take the card out
Turn on power back on for the slot.
The man page pages tells you which options to use for each. You can even turn on lights for the slots and have your own little disco.
Anyone for a Mutiny ?
