Hi,
I have an rx4640 that worked fine with an A9767A Processor Module, 1.1GHz, MX2 Dual
with 4M L3 and 32M L4 cache I tried to replace it with an AD268A Processor, rx4640 1.6GHz 24MB DC ,The machine does not go thru the boot up ,at the vfp it just says power on.Will this proc work on this machine or is there something that needs to be upgraded for it to work?
Thank you
Jon

Solution
You need a minimum firmware version, but recommended is the latest:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=88837&swItem=ux-48470-1&prodNameId=346361&swEnvOID=54&swLang=13&taskId=135&mode=3
With older firmware, the system doesn't know the CPU.
In addition, you probably need to adjust the DIP switch settings, see the manual:
http://docs.hp.com/en/A6961-96018/A6961-96018.pdf
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
