service light is red on HP 9000/800 L class

Where should I start the troubleshooting? In solaris, there are tools like prtdiag or explorer. In HP-UX, what tools are available other xstm? How to access the system error code? Thanks.

stm tools view hardware messages...

Try cstm on the command line. or the gui version xstm

Unix, the other white meat.

Re: service light is red on HP 9000/800 L class

HI Sunny,

If the server is up and running now, this status corresponds to an error that occured before. This light comes on when there was a serious problem with the system like the OS crashed.

You can turn off the light by going through GSP and viewing the logs.

Access GSP by typing "ctrl-b" at the console

At the GSP prompt type sl (service logs). Select errors (type E) and don't set any filters. You can go through the logs. To find more information you can go back to 'sl' and look at Last boot logs.

Hi Sunny,

On the lclass you have a GSP. ( lanconsole ). Access it by telnet/web or you can access it if you have a serial console connected to the server.
Log in ( if not configured no user no passwd ) and with ? you get the help menu. I think you need for sl (but it could be ls) and select e for errorlog.
At the OS you can use STM ( if OnlineDiag is installed) Its on the support plus cdrom.
