sharing powertrust-II on rp7410 dual cells
Hello,
We have rp7410 w/ 2 cells (2 core i/o cards installed). It is not clear how we can connect our UPS so that both nodes are aware of it (hpux 11i, MC/GS). Cell 1 sees the UPS and responds appropriately, cell 0 does not see it at all and threrefore will powerfail if batteries run out. Is there a way to get both nodes to see ups? I can't find any documentation on this and it seems like the 2nd core i/o card ports are not supposed to be used. Both nodes reun ups_mond.
TIA,
Chuck Davis

Re: sharing powertrust-II on rp7410 dual cells
Chuck,
the official solution is to run UPS Manager II. The server application runs on the partition connected to the UPS and clients run on all partitions that need to be shut down in case of a power failure. Normally the UPS Manager II software comes with the Powertrust II.
Powertrust II MR UPS can also be equipped with an SNMP card which can be accessed from client applications on the partitions via network to trigger a shutdown if needed.
Best regards
Stefan
