I have been trying to upgrade my A400 system's firmware from 40.32 to 42.19. I'm running HP-UX 11.0.
I have the patch file and followed the instructions in the HP-UX11i Installation manual exactly.
However, on the first reboot, srvrflash seems to be found but dies immediately upon loading:
--------------
HARD Booted.
ISL Revision A.00.38 OCT 26, 1994
ISL booting hpux srvrflash
Boot
: disk(0/0/1/1.15.0.0.0.0.0;0)srvrflash
21240 + 8576 + 2098904 start 0x1e00240

I can't proceed. I have found out how to reboot to the OS and reset the boot path to vmunix, but I must install HP-UX11i and the firmware level is too low. HELP!!?
Sandy

Solution
Hi,
Try this link and chekc out the installation procedure. Normally the firmware upgrade should be easy.
http://www1.itrc.hp.com/service/patch/patchDetail.do?patchid=PF_CHAW4219&context=firmware:cpu
Hope this helps.

Re: srvrflash fails upgrading firmware on A400
Well, the swinstall-type patch (PHSS_27383) never did work. But the tape-based (PF_4219) patch did.
Go figure.
So, the problem is not solved, but now I don't care.
Thanks.
