Re: support life for J2240

Hi,

I've never seen a life support matrix for workstations (yet). The workstation is on the discontinued list.

http://www.hp.com/workstations/discontinued.html

Your J2240 is supported for 11.i 64 bits, 11.i will be supported for a number of years.

Not an exact answer.

Hope this helps,

Re: support life for J2240

If your Product Number is really A4458A which was a dual processor J2240, then the minimum support date is thought November 2004 from a hardware perspective. You may want renew your support agreement prior and they might honor it even after that date, but it is unlikely that HP will renew contracts after this November for that product. However, it wouldn't hurt to ask again closer to that time. HP stopped selling this product in August 1999, so they typically only stock enough parts for 5 years of support life after that date. Many components likely are no longer available for restocking, i.e. disks, memory, graphics cards and CPU chips of that era.

Typically, HP's support contract will notify you if a part will no longer be supported at least a couple years in advance.
