Firmware Upgrade Question for "HP 1Gb Ethernet Pass-Thru Module for c-Class"

Hello,

Newbie here to HP Blade environment. Our current firmware level is 2.83, there is version 3.03 available. I figured out process on how to upgrade but I have one question (maybe a stupid one) but just wanted to check with others.

Would we be wise to schedule a maintenance window in the early morning hours before users come to work..or....can we do these updates on the fly during the regular workday?

thank you

I'd schedule an outage window - just in case.

Re: Firmware Upgrade Question for "HP 1Gb Ethernet Pass-Thru Module for c-Class"

I really don't know what the firmware does in this module, but the update process ask you the following:

OA> update device icbay 1a

Entering anything other than 'YES' will result in the command not executing.

Component upgrade may be disruptive to system operation...
Are you sure you want to continue?
yes

Upgrading... DO NOT remove or power cycle device(s)!
This process may take a while.

...

So the early morning is likely a good time for doing this.
It takes only a couple of minutes for all modules.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Firmware Upgrade Question for "HP 1Gb Ethernet Pass-Thru Module for c-Class"

Our C3000 Onboard Administrator, under "Enclosure Information", shows that for device module "HP 1Gb Ethernet Pass-Thru Module for c-Class" our current firmware version is 2.8.3 and the available version is 3.0.3.  However, I have been searching the HP support site for the download, and I cannot find it.  Can someone direct me on how to find the 1GB Ethernet pass-thru module firmware and upgrade instructions?

Many Thanks!

Torsten.
