Moving a Standby OA to a VC Domain enclosure with no Standby OA module installed
Maximiliano had a customer question:
***********
A customer has Standby OA modules installed at a recovery site but have a 4 Enclosure Virtual Connect Domain with no Standby OA modules at the main site. Our idea is to move those Standby modules from the recovery site to the main site to provide redundancy where is needed.
Considering OAs already have configuration, is it a hot swap procedure or it needs extra considerations instead. What would be the best way to proceed in this case?
PD: Recovery site doesn’t have Virtual Connect installed.

Input from Monty:
************
Adding a second OA to an enclosure with one OA automatically synchronizes the enclosure configuration – unless the firmware versions do not match. This is independent of the configuration of the enclosure that an OA was removed from.
If the OA firmware versions are different – you can sync the OA firmware from the enclosure Insight Display if the two modules are the same design (original OA or newer OA with DDR2 and KVM). If the modules are not the same hardware, you will need to use the OA GUI or CLI and update the OA firmware from a released firmware image.
After the firmware is updated, the enclosure configuration is automatically synchronized from the active OA to the standby OA.
