Cisco 3020 Network Config Question
Mark had a customer network configuration question:
******************
Hello,
I have a customer with 12 BL460c G6 blades, and two Cisco 3020 switches in Interconnect Bays 1 and 2 in a C7000 chassis. All the blades are on a 15 subnet. The customer wants to move just 1 blade to a 161 subnet. Can this be done with the use of the VLAN option? If so, can it be done real time, and what steps would need to be taken to accomplish this? The chassis and all blades have recently been updated to the latest version of firmware. the OA is at 3.11.

Yes this can be done. I presume the current configuration is with single Vlan.
Now you need to configure another Vlan for Blade 1 (Vlan ID should match with the external switch) and either dedicate an uplink port for this Vlan or Trunk to send both subnet 15 & subnet 161 through the uplink port.
Please refer page no 271 and 272 for configuring Vlan on 3020 switch. If new uplink ports are going to be assigned to this Vlan then no downtime would be required.
