NC542m 10Gbe Flex Connect Dual Port adapter with Vmware ESXi 5.5?

Does anyone know if HP is working on this and when the VIB file might be ready?  I tried migrating a couple servers over today and the cards don't work in 5.5.

According to the Vmware compatibility matrix they are not supported.  Yet?  Ever?

Mike, just an FYI I am looking into this for you.

One of the people who responded to me already said she thinks the Mellanox Drivers are "in box" in 5.5 and you should just be able to use the ESXi installer (we obviously recommend the HP one and for some servers its still required).

They are looking into why its not on the HCL as well.

So if you see this, please let me know if its really not working or you were just concerned it wasn't on the HCL?

Casper,

We have the same problem. It's not only not supported but it does also not work.

We have some BL460 with the NC542m  added. The onboard works fine but the NC542m  does not show up in the config correcly.

it displayed "Mallanox Technologies MT26468" with below that 2 adapters.

in the ESXicli all the nic do show up. (see below)

Do you know if this will be fixed? Still have a lot of BL460 to do... but for now it is a "No Go".

~ # for a in $(esxcfg-nics -l |awk '{print $1}' |grep [0-9]) ;do vmkchdev -l |grep $a ;done

Re: NC542m 10Gbe Flex Connect Dual Port adapter with Vmware ESXi 5.5?

I'm still waiting for a fix, I keep checking weekly on the VMware website.  I tried calling HP and boucned through a couple people, they told me to use the "boxed" HP5.5 ESXi image, which I have tried a few times and the drivers that it comes with don't work.  I see the same behavior as the poster above.

HP told me that they think they will be supported but has no ETA or any other information.  How could 10G NICs not be supporting going forward?  Booo :(

I have installed manually the Mellanox drivers on the ESXi 5.5 host. The 2 adapters under 'Network Adapters' are now disappeared and showed up under 'Storage Adapters'. :-s
