BL460 G1's and BL460 Gen8's in same enclosure
Paul had a server compatibility question:
************
I apologize because I'm sure this has been asked and answered before. I just can't find it.
I have a customer with a mix of Gen8's and G1's in the same enclosure. They are running Virtual Connect modules. Under G1 it states fw 3.61 for the VC. Under Gen8 it states VCM v4.20 fw for the VC management software. With this, I assume Gen8's and G1's are NOT supported in the same enclosure. Could someone confirm this for me please.
They have HP VC Flex-10 Enet Module in bay 1 and 2. 455880-B21
Thanks in advance
**************
Reply from Hoa:
You can have G1-Gen8 blades in the same enclosure with VCM v4.20. If they have VC 4G -B21 version, 4.01 is the final version they can upgrade to. Is this the case?
And from Mark:
Hoa is correct.
The only "exclusions" are:
VC 3.70 - Dropped VC 1/10 and VC 1/10-F Ethernet Modules VC 4.10 - Dropped VC-FC 4Gb (B21 Version)

Re: BL460 G1's and BL460 Gen8's in same enclosure
From Todor:
Yes, there are exclusions as far as c-Class server blades themselves are concerned.
You should only consider not having the below VC Modules in the same VC Domain if FW is above 3.7 or 4.10

Re: BL460 G1's and BL460 Gen8's in same enclosure
From Dan:
Paul,
I have 460 G1s, 465 G7s and a single 460 Gen8 all in the same c7000 with VC Flex-10 modules out in the garage right now running VCM v4.20
Let me know if there is anything specific you are looking for.
