BL460cG7 NC553i Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) iSCSI MAC

A question from Takaaki:

******************

Why dose BL460cG7 NC553i firmware 4.0.360.15 send the iSCSI MAC

address for LLDP instead of ethernet MAC address?

Input from Richard (Alias Mr. Perf):

Just a guess, but if the NIC firmware is indeed sending LLDP frames, that would be the "offload stack" part of it doing that, and so the iSCSI MAC being used makes at least a little sense since that would be the MAC of the offload stack.  It probably expects the "dumb NIC" MAC to be advertised via LLDP from the host.

It would be "Rather Odd" if both the NIC firmware and host sent-out LLDP frames with the dumb NIC MAC.  At least to my thinking.
