Bad or missing UUID 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000

Since a blade server motherboard was replaced, it's UUID is now showing up as 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 which is preventing it from being properly recognized by HP SIM.

Is there a way to reset this to a valid UUID?

The blade is running ESXi 4.1 Update 1

Quite likely this is because of a setting in BIOS.

There is a part (like asset tags, server name etc) where you probably have to set something.

What type of blade is it?  Integrity blades will require this info to be valid to produce a valid host ID value.  Typically the values are automatically copied to the motherboard from another component in the blade (such as the SAS backplane or the front panel display board).  HP CE's will have the ability to manually copy the data though if a problem like this occurs.

This is beacuse the Bios settings needs to be udpated--> go to bios--> update teh serial number in the BIOS from the server assset tag.Once this is done the UUID and serial number will be dispalyed in ILO summary.
