Boot from SAN lun disconnection with LPe1205A Emulex HBA on BL460c Gen8 question
Question from Ramu:
*************
At one of the customer’s place we are deploying BL460c Gen8 with Emulex LPe1205A adaptor. The server is connected to XP24000 storage array through Brocade SAN director class switch.
Windows 2008 R2 with boot from SAN is required. What we observe is during OS installation after first boot, server loses the SAN LUN.
Any known issues? There are 100 plus servers to be deployed with this combination. Anyone seen similar issues?
***************
Info from Dave:
*************
With Windows, The server can have ONLY one fiber path connected until the OS is loaded AND MPIO is installed/configured.
Disable one path or HBA on the server fiber.
Make sure they are on the latest HW and OS drivers.
ROMBIOS needs to be configured with HBA BIOS enabled
And the HBA controller is the first boot device.
