Emulex adapter LPe1105 not known by the Onboard Administrator (OA) after Firmware upgrade

Andreas had a mezz adapter problem:

Hello guys,

my customer did an upgrade of his BL460cG7 with the firmware DVD 9.30 and now all Emulex LPe1105 are not known by the OA and not working. They now have the version 2.82A4 / 6.03A11.

He did a downgrade to 2.50A8, but the Boot Version is still on 6.03A11 and it is not working

He has the message in the OA syslog – “Mezz card internal data problem”

It sounds like the following issue:

http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/HP-BladeSystem-Server-Blades/C7000-amp-BL460-quot-Device-Identification-Data-Error-quot/td-p/1153544

Is there any way to downgrade the Boot version of the HBA ?

Or is the only way to replace the Emulex card ?

He has 9 effected servers with these LPe1105 mezz boards.

Enjoy this document I made:

You can find it yourself when doing a www.hp.com/bizsupport search on ‘device identification error’ just like the customer would probably see on his screen.

Solution: first upgrade to OA FW 2.60 and then to a higher OA FW level and then upgrade device FW levels (at least this is how we fixed it).

Please let me know if this resolved the issue; when you have the problem already…. Then you have to replace the cards.
