Re: Is there any 900GB or 1TB hard disk drive compatible with BL680c G5 ?

Officially, according to Quickspecs, no. However, the BL680c G5 used the same dual port SAS drives in the common Proliant drive chassis which was used prior to Gen8.

Practically speaking, drives compatible with G7 should work in a G5 from a connectivity standpoint, but your mileage may vary. (Some of the smaller drives listed for the G7 are specifically listed as compatible with the G5, but the newer larger drives aren't specifically qualified for the older servers.)

Part #s which would physically fit and be likely compatible (but again, not officially supported!) are:

693648-B21 - 1.2TB 10K SAS
619291-B21 - 900GB 10K SAS
605835-B21 - 1TB 7.2K MDL SAS
625609-B21 - 1TB 7.2K MDL SATA

Hope this helps.

I have found that individual server QuickSpecs pages stop getting updates after a certain period of time.
But some of the primary components used in several different models have their own QuickSpecs and those pages tend to get updates longer into that products life.

Case in point, your BL680c G5 doesn't mention the 900GB 2.5" 10K drive, but does say a P400i controller is used.

Checking the P400i QuickSpecs page however...
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12400_na/12400_na.html
And you will see there is a 900GB 10K drive and a 1TB 7200rpm drive both listed.

So actually "According to Quickspecs, no" is not entirely true.
You just have to find the right Quickspecs. :)

Very good point, I should've thought of looking at the controller's quickspecs - thanks for the extra bit of confirmation that it works!
