lost password does it cause outage
Sorry for the dumb question but I'm new to hp blades.. The directions to recovery a lost onboard adminsitator password say to hold reset and the system will reboot in lost recovery mode. I just want to make sure I'm not going to cause downtime. Will servers on the blades be impacted or any configs reset or does it just reset password?

If you do not have a PIN Code set for the front panel there is a much easier way to get back in.
Open Notepad on your PC
Add the following lines:
ADD USER "hpadmin" "hpinvent"
SET USER PASSWORD "hpadmin" "hpinvent"
SET USER CONTACT "hpadmin" ""
SET USER FULLNAME "hpadmin" ""
SET USER ACCESS "hpadmin" ADMINISTRATOR
ASSIGN SERVER 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,1A,2A,3A,4A,5A,6A,7A,8A,9A,10A,11A,12A,13A,14A,15A,16A,1B,2B,3B,4B,5B,6B,7B,8B,9B,10B,11B,12B,13B,14B,15B,16B "hpadmin"
ASSIGN INTERCONNECT 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 "hpadmin"
ASSIGN OA "hpadmin"
ENABLE USER "hpadmin"
Then save that to a USB Thumb drive in the root as Add_HPADMIN.CFG
The Thumb drive should be FAT32, not NTFS.
Put that into the primary OA (will have 2 green lights instead of 1)
Use the front panel and from Main Menu go to USB Menu towards bottom.
Choose the Restore Config option and you should see the Add_HPADMIN.CFG listed. Select that and let it run.
Once that is done you have a new admin account called hpadmin with the password of hpinvent you can use to login from the Web GUI and then reset Administrator account password or do whatever you like.
