unable to run SPP on Windows 2008 R2

I have copied all the files for the latest SPP  (2014/04) for a BL460c G8. I run the HPSUM batch file, and am presented with a browser based GUI. There are two options, either interactive or automatic. Regardless of which I select, the server does a "inventory of baseline". Just below this there is an "inventory of node". This has a red status, with the message: node inventory failed, cannot perform the operation now. Reason: Inventory started.

I have no idea how to get around this. At the moment, I installed the previous SPP to get me up and running. The previous SPP has the older HPSUM interface, and works fine.

I have attached a screen dump of the issue.

bradshr,

Doublecheck your download.  2014.04 is a supplement and not a fullblown SPP (unless HP updated it).

SPP 2014.02 B is the starting point.

then somehow (haven't tried this yet on my own) the supplement plays into it.

the SPP used is HP_Service_Pack_for_Proliant_SPP2014020B.2014_0421.2_780345_001_spp_2014.02.0B-SPP2014020B.2014_0421.2 , apologies if I was not clear earlier.
