Complete Firmware Update of c7000 and all the components!
Hi,
I have to do a firmware upgrade of c7000 enclosure and all of its components.
Can I use the Firmware Maintenance CD or have I to do it bit by bit?
Is there a manual for firmware upgrade?
Which components can do an online upgrade and which an offline upgrade?
Many thanks!
Regards
Sascha Nachtsheim

Re: Complete Firmware Update of c7000 and all the components!
Firmware maintenance CD will update blade BIOS, ILO, NIC, SmartArray and HBAs. The enclosure switches or VC modules, need to be updated following their procedures.
The OA I'm not sure if it can be updated with firmware CD. You can download the firmware and update it from the OA web interface.
Server BIOS, NIC, ILO, SmartArray and FC cards firmware can be updated online, but you'll have to reboot server for them to be effective.

Re: Complete Firmware Update of c7000 and all the components!
OA firmware is still only a .bin file so this has to be done via http browser to OA.
As I understand it a server does not know of the existance of an OA, (Its on the other end of the ILO port) so can't see it to upgrade the firmware.
Same goes for Virtual Connect and Network and SAN switch firmware.... they have to be done by connecting via a supported method to the item its self.
