Access EVA 4K files

Greetings!

Iam using EVA4000 , HP-UX 11.11

Below is a path of my oracle database data file like that , how can i access EVA files directly as we access in windows c:\abc etc .

+ASMPROD/nprd/datafile/prod_data_01.dbf

If i can access this EVA4k file like NFS /cifs , My problem will be solved.

Is it possible to access via EVA command view or any other process like http://.

I appreciate all who help to clear my issue.

Re: Access EVA 4K files

Hi,
your question is not very clear, maybe you to elaborate more.
as per accesing eva luns, you need to create a vdisk and present that lun to any supported OS, and then create the neccessary filesystem on it.
other than that i doubt whether there is way to directly access the luns from EVA.

Re: Access EVA 4K files

My question is IF or NOT Possible:

#Can i directly access to the LUN's in EVA4000 which is usually not mounted whenever Database configured.

#which tool i can use to access those file
#tools like http:// or any other method .

I hope queries are more clear

Re: Access EVA 4K files

the luns of the EVA must always be mounted to a server to access them. You can use business copy to create snapshots / close and mount the to other servers.
SSSU to access the EVA commands in command line mode.
Add NFS / sambe to our HPUX server to to this job
EVA is not a natapp where the run some sort of an OS who presents his luns in NFS of CIFS

Re: Access EVA 4K files

No, it is not directly possible to access the EVA with file or http protocols.

The EVA is a Fibre Channel SCSI target which means that it provides SCSI LUNs whose smallest I/O is a 512 byte data block. The EVA simply does not 'know' what a file or a file share is.

Any NFS/CIFS share or HTTP server must be provided by an extra server that is in the data path between the EVA and the end-user.

Re: Access EVA 4K files

I don't know what you really have, but I assume you probably have a raw file system within a LVM logical volume. So you need another hp-ux system, import the volume group and mount that file system.

Once this is done, the server can also export this via NFS.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
