I recently purchased a second controller and downloaded securepath for my MSA 1000 array. Is there a sequential procedure for installation? I realize the firmware will clone but I'm concerned about losing my configuration in the existing controller.

Solution
1) Take a full backup of your MSA1000
2) Write down the current configuration (Luns/Presentation)
3) Install the second controller
4) Connect your servers to the second controller
5) Install MPIO / Securepath on your servers
6) Present the lun to the second controller
Ps : don't forget to submit points to your threads

Re: Adding 2nd Fibre Channel Controller to MSA1000
Robert,
Always have a good backup before you make a configuration change. Adding a second controller shouldn't have any risk of losing your configuration on the primary controller. Make sure when you go from a single path to multi-path, you will need to have multi-path software (MPIO) to manage the paths or you will see duplicate luns in your disk mgmnt.
Do a search on hp.com for MPIO for MSA to locate the MPIO software assuming you are running MS. VMWare and Linux have multi-pathing built into their drivers.
Cheers.
