BCV in XP12k & EVA8K

Please explain me Business continuance volume(BCV)in xp12K/Eva8K.i.e sync,split,ldevs,luns etc. As i am new to the unix environment please explainin details starting from begining.

Business Copy XP and EVA allows you creating copies of primary volumes based on Array software.
You can either create full clones or space efficient snapshots.

BC EVA is a controller-based, host-independent application that resides on a management server. BC EVA allows you to create, run, and manage business continuance volumes (BCVs). A BCV is a generic term that describes a storage unit that is a point-in-time copy of an existing production unit.

Note: A key feature of a BCV unit is that it is available for multiple uses while the
production volume remains online for normal I/O.
