Best Practice of using RSM to backup MS SQL

I am planning to use RSM to backup my MS SQL database system running on EVA 4400. I understand that I can run the mirror clone to keep the image of the database files and database logs. I would like to know, in practice, do you also run the tradition full MS SQL Backup and Transaction log backup in addition to the RSM mirror clone ? If not, how do you truncate the MS SQL transaction log ?
