Boot first from Local DAS Disk, then from SAN if DAS fails

Hi
I have an iSCSI SAN and W2K3 servers.

I boot locally from my DAS c: drive, and access data via the SNA (e: f: etc)

What would be involved in continuing to 'boot' from the local DAS, but in the event the c: drive was 'not available' or off line, to switch to SAN boot using an ISCSI HBA

I understand how I can do this manually, but would be interested in general thoughts on automating this process.

Also - If I didnt have an ISCSI HBA is there such a 'thing' as boot USB thumb drive:

ie my local DAS (c:) fails, then it attempts ISCSI initiation and SAN boto, using a loader on the USB thumb drive; thus allowing me to just use a regular Ethernet NIC card rather than a more expensive HBA (I do understand I can reflash certain Intel Pro 1000's to act as a boot HBA)

Kind Regards
