Good day gurus!
I am looking for an upgrade path for my Brocade FC switches to the latest supported version. The current version is:
Fabric OS (swd77)
Fabos Version 5.3.0
Regards,
Rianui

machine : Brocade Silkworm440

SolutionHmm. While there were Silkworm 200s and 300s, most have four digits. If it a Silkworm 4xxx, then the path is:
5.3 > 6.0.x > 6.1.x > 6.2.x > 6.3.x > 6.4.3h
Contact HPE Support for assistance in getting all firmware bundles.
If it a Silkworm 4xxx, then it's a 4Gb switch and as far as I know, at EOL. You should strongly consider replacing it (them?) with an 8Gb or 16Gb switch(es?).
Note: While I am an HPE Employee, all of my comments (whether noted or not), are my own and are not any official representation of the company

Re: Brocade FOS 5.3.0 upgrade Steps to Latest Supported FOS
Maybe it is a "HP storageworks 4/16 SAN switch"? Is it for blade chassis or standalone?
Please have a look at the label and confirm.
Many systems say
machine : Brocade Silkworm440
but the "platform" is important!
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Brocade FOS 5.3.0 upgrade Steps to Latest Supported FOS
Hi Sheldon,
I posted the same on Brocade and one Antonio confirmed that it's a Brocade 200E, SwitchType 34 and with a supported FOS 6.2.2. See more info below.
You are right, the switch is very old and a refresh is coming up. However the customer asked for an upgrade of the brocade switches and the existing blade enclosure which has two Ethernet 1/10Gb VC-Enet Modules and two Fibre 4Gb VC-FC Modules.

Re: Brocade FOS 5.3.0 upgrade Steps to Latest Supported FOS
yes, switchtype 34.x is the
HP StorageWorks 4/8 Base SAN Switch (also 4/16) aka Brocade SilkWorm 200E.
In this case version FOS v6.2.2g is the latest and greatest.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Brocade FOS 5.3.0 upgrade Steps to Latest Supported FOS
Note down all important configuration settings and re-create them in the new switch.
The firmware gap does not allow to import this old configuration.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
