Brocade admin console has - disappeared?

I recently upgraded a couple of brocades to v6.3.0. The upgrade process went just fine, and at the end everything seemed to be working squarely.

I can't get to the web management console on either of them now. The Java loader starts up, but then failes as unable to load the jar package. What is going on?????

com.sun.deploy.net.FailedDownloadException: Unable to load resource: http://10.150.24.159/wt-app.jar
at com.sun.deploy.net.DownloadEngine.actionDownload(Unknown Source)
at com.sun.deploy.net.DownloadEngine.getCacheEntry(Unknown Source)

Once I get that fixed, I want to be able to use the DNS name of the switch to load this console - but that's not nearly as important as being to admin it at all.

As I write this, I wonder if installing DCFM and trying to begin to make use of it has somehow caused this. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks, James

Re: Brocade admin console has - disappeared?

Try installing the latest java version and then accessing the switch directly rather than through DCFM.

More than likely, you need to empty your Java's cache.

And it that doesn't work, in the Java Control Panel applet, check the Network Settings. Try changing to "Direct connection".

Re: Brocade admin console has - disappeared?

Thanks guys, but I've tried all of these.

I was trying t make a direct connection. That's what's not working. Also, I've cleared the cache on my Java panel and tried every different connection method, and I've had no dice.

I put the http://10.150.24.159/wt-app.jar directly into a browser to see what happened, and I got a 404 back. I haven't tried to wget the file yet, just thought of that then.

Re: Brocade admin console has - disappeared?

James ,

the release notes mention this:

///////////////////////////////////////
NOTE: With the introduction of Fabric OS 6.1.1, certain features and functions were removed from Web Tools (resident in the firmware) and migrated to the DCFM management application. HP recommends that, before you upgrade to Fabric OS 6.1.1x or later, if DCFM is not running on your fabric, you review the Web Tools functionality moved to DCFM in these release notes and take note of what has changed so you can assess the impact on your fabric.
///////////////////////////////////////

Is this related to your problem ?

Re: Brocade admin console has - disappeared?

Indirectly. It's pretty much that release note that caused by problem (maybe), because it's that that persuaded me that I should look at DCFM. It's actually counterproductive for this site, because the site has four fabrics of one switch each, so DCFM is too much overkill. However (and now I'm starting to waver on this, but I think it's right) the web GUI was available straight after I completed all the upgrades and working fine; then a couple of weeks later it had stopped working.

Re: Brocade admin console has - disappeared?

that can have two reason.

a) wrong Java Release, whit FOS 6.3 youneed to install Java 1.6.x

b) the http service is stopped.
see here in order to restart the service
