Changing Symbolic Port Name

Hi ALL,

is it possible to change the HBA symbolic port name. This would make things much easier for SAN Management - associating ports to hosts (since fcalias not always are correct).

Hello,

Are you referring to the description where the manufacturer information is displayed ?

If yes, you are not able to change this.

Yes, the description defined by the manufacturer. But in some cases, that description is automatically changed where the hostname is appended? is it an OS feature by the moment where the card is plugged in the server?
