Cluster node will not boot when attached to MSA 1500 SAN

I'm running a windows 2003 Enterprise active/passive cluster - both nodes with 2 Qlogic FCHBA's connected to a MSA1500 based SAN with secure path installed.
Now the passive node has recently died (On-board RAID Controller defect) so I did the following:
Replaced the server with an identical server (Dell Poweredge 2850)
Did a bare metal restore of the previous server installation on to this server
Booted this server to check out the BIOS Version, RAID firmware, event log etc....
Shut off the server and connected the FCBA's to the SAN
Now after starting the server expecting to see the LUNS in windows drive manager I got this windows stop error: NMI parity check/ memory parity error. - Game over.
Windows will not boot and I can only turn off the server.
I tried booting this server without a fibre optic cable attached - no problem and no error.
Very very strange.
I would be really thankful for any tips before having to take drastic measures.

Re: Cluster node will not boot when attached to MSA 1500 SAN

Hi, I've seen this behaviour once before and it was traced to an HBA driver. This instance was I think on an Emulex LP8000 card but the symptoms were the same. The server would always boot with no FC connection, plug it in and no boot. Try removing all parts of the driver and installing a fresh version.
