what is container in hp command view and how to work?

Hello,

if you create a vdisk the EVA controller has to allocate space, update meta data etc. When you delete a vdisk the space is released but because of the meta data changes this could take a time. If you have periodical tasks, such as timed snapshots or clones, you can use a container to eleminate the time to allocate space, or when the snapshot/ clone isn't needed any more, to delete the vdisk. A container is a pre-allocated space that you can use for snapshots or clone operations.

Hello,

meta data are, for example, mapping tables. Tables in which the controllers write down which block is allocated, if it's parity or data, on which disks etc.

ESS,

Containers are used for Business Copy. Seconday volume (where the data is being written) can be created from free space available in the diskgroup or also can be reserved in the form of container.

If you have business copy license then you can create a container of any size bigger than primary volume and while creating a business copy pair use container for secondary volume space. During the excersize you may see that after creating container you will loose that space from diskgroup (that's what I mean by reserving the space).
