Compaq Storageworks HBA question

I've inherited a situation here - Quick specs:

Compaq Prolliant DL380
Windows Server 2003 SP1
1Gb RAM
PIII
"Compaq StorageWorks 64-Bit/66Mhz Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter"

This HBA is connected to a Compaq StorageWorks San Switch 16.

As you can tell the equipment is old, EOL, so I'm having a great deal of difficulty finding docs, drivers and software.

Currently, the HBA shows up in device manager, and the switch shows that it is connected to the server via the HBA. However I am unable to access the drive arrays (RA4000) that are connected to this switch. I am unable to see them with native OS utilities or with Comapq and HP Array utilities. It seems that I may be missing a piece of software here, some kind of SAN configuration utility?

Anyone see an obvious piece missing from this puzzle?

Re: Compaq Storageworks HBA question

I'm wondering if you have the old Compaq version of HBA using the Tachyon chip. If so, they could only be used in loop mode. You could either; direct attach, hub or loop switch.

Mind you this was many brain cells ago.

I would try, direct attach and see if you can detect any LUNs.

Re: Compaq Storageworks HBA question

Thanks John - direct connect allowed me to see the RA4000 in the Array Management Utility (sort of - it's now complaining about firmware but I can fix that).

Now I just need to figure out how to configure the SAN Switch 16 to pass the communications through. Once I can make that work I think we'll be ok.

Thanks again!
