Hi,
I want connect two C7000 to one EVA4400 wihout internal FC-Switch.
The first C7000 has 2xBrocade 4/24 Module.
Each one is connected by FC to FP1 of both EVA4400 Controller.
There is anything working fine.
Now I want connect a second C7000 to this EVA4400.
The second C7000 has 2xHP 4Gb VC-FC Module.
Each of then is connected by FC to FP2 of both EVA4400 Controller.
But here I can't get connection.
My questions:
1. Is this a possible environment/configuration?
2. If "Yes" how I have to connect both C7000 to one EVA4400 via FC-Moduls?
Thanks in advance
Uwe

Re: Connecting 2xC7000 to 1xEVA4400
Hi
you can work like this what you should do is connect FP1 of both EVA controllers to one of the brocades in the C7000 enclosure and FP2 of both EVA controllers to the other brocade switch.
then connect as many uplinks from one VC-FC module to one brocade module. and from the other VC-FC module to the other brocade switch.
the connection you made is not supported with EVA only with 3PAR storage.

Re: Connecting 2xC7000 to 1xEVA4400
Hi,
Thanks for quick answer.
My problem is, that I havn't free FC-Ports on Brocade 4/16 Switch's
and every server is in production mode.
It isn't easy to organize a time slot with our customers for changes :-)
Figure 1 in attachments shows my preferred solution, but this isn't working.
Figure 2 is this a possible solution? But I would lose redundancy.
Figure 3 is the suggested solution, isn't it?
To realise solution in Figure 3 I have to set free 2 FC-Ports on each of both Brocade 4/16 Switch.
Is there an other solution yet?
Thanks in advance
Uwe

Re: Connecting 2xC7000 to 1xEVA4400
Hi
as far as I know direct attach to virtual connect is only supported with 3PAR storage
if you want to try you should change the port on the EVA from fabric to direct this is done
from the managment card in the EVA and also when you define SAN in the Virtual Connect
define is as direct attach.it is explained in "HP Virtual Connect Fibre Channel Networking Scenario 4.10"
pdf you can download from HP. but as I said for EVA this is not supported your only option is what I suggested.
maybee you can free ports by having some servers loose redundency
