Connecting AlphaServer DS20E to EVA8000

I am connecting a AlphaServer DS20E with OpenVMS 8.3 to a EVA8000. Applied the Firmware CD 7.3 and the OpenVMS with update patch V6.0. and FIBRE_SCSI V4.0 By the moment only the applications disk are going to be defined in the EVA. The System Operating disk wiil be in the local bus disk. The used HBA are model DS-KGPSA-CX. I will need to make some special setup to SRM level for these HBA ?

Re: Connecting AlphaServer DS20E to EVA8000

You will need to make sure the HBA is set to fabric mode rather than anything else. At the SRM prompt:

P00>> wwidmgr -show adap

Then if it's not set to "FABRIC":

P00>> wwidmgr -set adapter -item -topo fabric

(Substituting item# based on the "-show adap" output as appropriate)

>>>wwidmgr -set adapter -item 9999 -topo fabric

sets all adapters with one command.

Re: Connecting AlphaServer DS20E to EVA8000

Hi,

If you're not booting from the EVA then you should only need to check the topology setting as Mark mentioned.

Should you need to boot from the SAN at a later point, you need to use wwidmgr to make the boot LUNs visible to the SRM.

Re: Connecting AlphaServer DS20E to EVA8000

HI,

this is a 1gb adapter, there are the ds-kgpsa-da and ea 2gb variants on this that would be supported on the ds20e at that firmware and os level ?
