Connecting a server to a MSA via SAN switch

Hi Gurus,

I want to transfer data from a server (running windows 2003) to a MSA2000 array. We have a SAN switch and the transfer should be done through the SAN.

How can I do this?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Connecting a server to a MSA via SAN switch

Well, that question is a bit vague and provides not much background...
Assuming this is an MSA2000fc, you do it like any other (Fibre Channel) SAN connection.

The server must have a Fibre Channel adapter and connected to the FC switch. Install the drivers, the MSA2000fc MPIO for multipath handling (or setup a zone for single-path access).

Create a vdisk and volume on the MSA2000. Map the volume to the server. From Windows, write a signature, create a partition + NTFS filesystem. Then copy thedata to the MSA2000.
