Copy FATA LUN to FCAL LUN

all storage experts,

for one of our ESX servers we have used FATA storage (40GB) by mistake, we would like to know if there is a way to migrate\clone this LUN to FCAL disks on the fly or even with some planned downtime?

The storage system in question is - HSV400

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Copy FATA LUN to FCAL LUN

AFAIR - With current versions of XCS code and command view you can do this, if you have the business copy license (read about RAID migration).

Hope this helps!

Re: Copy FATA LUN to FCAL LUN

Hi, FCAL is used also on the FATA drives. I suppose you mean FC drives.

Can you have the mirror on another disk group?

What would be nice is if you could with Business Copy create a mirrorclone, shut down the server and then break the mirror. Then you'll have a new vdisk. You could then unpressent hte original FATA vdisk and present the new vdisk to the server.

You could install the CV simulator and try this out before:
