DR Site - Array Based replciation between Physical and Virtual Environments
Hi
I have a scenario where we need to design a Replication between a main site (Physical servers) and DR Site (Virtual Servers - say WMARE) on EVA/XP Array.
As I understand from various sources it is not possible to provide a solution.
Could you guide me on how to address this business need.
Regards

Re: DR Site - Array Based replciation between Physical and Virtual Environments
First of all you cannot use Continuous Access array based replication between EVA and XP. You might be able to use the XP's extended storage feature but I am not sure about that.
That aside, one way to address this scenario is to use RDMs within VMware. You will need to pre-stage all of the virtual machine at the DR-site and then present the replicated LUN as RDMs to the virtual machines.
Remember to reverse the replication and all of that good stuff that goes along with mirroring data.
When you need to go back, simply represent the LUN back to the physical host at the main site.

Re: DR Site - Array Based replciation between Physical and Virtual Environments
Hi Sreedhara,
You cannot Replicate datas from EVA to XP.
Configure EVA as external storage and configure BC.
As Replication is Array based you can go for XP Continuous Acces, for which you need two XP arrays or two EVAs sitting in PDC and DR site.
