Different MPIO Versions

For a SAN connection to EVA5000 - version VCS 3.028 it is recommended the mpio version 1.02; for EVA 8400 the mpio version should be 3.03. Does the version 3.03 support the connection to EVA5000? Can I connect with version 3.03 to both EVA from the same server?

Re: Different MPIO Versions

I saw the matrix, but I don^t understand, if the 3.03 version supports EVA5000 VCS 3.028

Re: Different MPIO Versions

Hi,
In one word = no!
MPIO V3.xx is for Active/Active which means VCS V4.xx or all XCS code.
Go to here:

and select the code of your choice.

Re: Different MPIO Versions

How do I migrate data from an EVA5000 to an EVA8400, if the mpio-version 3.03 does not support VCS 3.xx and mpio-verion 1.02 does not support EVA 8.xxx?

Re: Different MPIO Versions

Hi
You only require MPIO on your server if you wish to present Vdisks to your server. You can still present Vdisks to a server even if you do not use MPIO, the "problem" is that you will see the same disk multiple times. MPIO sorts this out for you and also gives you some management over the paths.
You can also have BOTH versions of MPIO on the same server at the same time.
If you wish to transfer Vdisks between 2 EVA's then maybe CA is a better way??
To use CA then you will require a CA licence at BOTH ends. You can get temporary ones from HP for minimal cost I believe.

Re: Different MPIO Versions

Hi,
seems that the coexistence of the MPIO B and MPIO FF is supported, so you can istall both for the migration period...
