Disks have the same disk number in an EVA8000

Hi,

What are the ramifications for having two disks with the same disk number within the same disk group?

Thanks in advance.

I have seen this before.
As long as the UUID's are different there is no issue. I would suggest that you rename the disk to another number not being used. Those disk numbers from what I was told from an HP SE are just so we admin can id the disk without having to run through the whole UUID number.

Thanks,

Yes the UUID is different.

That is what I thought, but unfortunately there is no way to rename the disk number other than to pull the drive and reinsert it.

Re: Disks have the same disk number in an EVA8000

It's an _old_ bug in CV-EVA and usually happens when new disk drives are inserted too fast. I always recommend to wait until the disk drive has appeared in the "ungroup disks" folder.

Well, on one system I found that a new disk did not come up after some minutes, so we had to do a refresh/rescan in CV-EVA, sigh.

Anyway....
You should be able to rename the disk object in the "Disk Groups" hierarchy. I don't know why you can't do it from the "hardware" hierarchy.
