Distance between two Switches

Hi All ,

There is a Brocade 4100 switch (fab os 5.3) in our DC .Now we need to connect another switch (broacde 5100 )to it .What is the idstance limitation between two switches .(for fibre cable)

It depends if short wave or long wave is in use. What is the distance between your switches?

The distance between two switches is approximately 40 meters (if the vendors is able to provide us the cable by shorter route or 80 meters by longer route .We do not have long wave SFP right now (but can be procurred ) what else needs to be done ...

40m should not be a problem.

normally in a data centres fibre cables in 5 m or 15 m length is 40 or 80 cable available ?
