EMULEX HBA CARD

Hi,

I have 2 questions about HBA cards.

There are 2 dual port HBA cards in one of the Windows server 2003 server.
1.I want to know whether we can find out which port on a HBA card is in use and which is not in use.can we chck this from Windows or BIOS?

2.How can we disable not used port in an HBA card within windows and in BIOS?

If someone can clarify on these it would be helpful.

Thanks & Regards

Re: EMULEX HBA CARD

Hi,

If this is a ProLiant server and you've installed the ProLiant Support Pack, then you should be able to get the information from the System Management Homepage.

Alternatively, the Emulex HBAnyware utility might be of use.

Cheers,

Re: EMULEX HBA CARD

Thanks for the reply Rob.

Is there a way to disable the unused ports via BIOS?

I can see in System Management that the port is OK or not connected but do not have any option to disable it there.

Also in Device manager if I go to the properties of one of the cards 2 ports for one port the function 0 and for another its 1.Does this indicate the one showing as function 0 is not used?

I have attached the screeshot for you to understand better.
