EVA 4400 Diskgroup

Hi I am using EVA 4400 with 1 disk enclosure.
146 GB * 10 HDD is instaled. Created one diskgroup.
I am planning to add one more disk enclosure and create another disk group. Minimum how many HDDs I need to purchase for crating another disk group.

Re: EVA 4400 Diskgroup

Hi,

You require mim 8 disks to form a group in EVA.

Re: EVA 4400 Diskgroup

Keep in mind that all disks in a disk group must be the same technology (FC or FATA). I would prefer a larger disk group, by the way.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: EVA 4400 Diskgroup

More disks in a single group. For example, more disks, more performance in general.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: EVA 4400 Diskgroup

Also. when you calculate how much space you will have available in your new disk group you need to take into account the Vraid level which you will use and which SPARING levels you will use.

If you use a sparing level of 1, you will use up two times the size of your largest disk in the group and if you use a sparing level of 2, you will use up four times the size of your largest disk in the group.
