EVA 4400 Reduse the size of VDISK

Hi,I want to reduse the size of vdisk withot losinng the data on it. O.S is windows 2008 64 bit.
LUN size is 400 GB. I want to make it 300 GB. But some data is there on it . Is it possible to reduse the size thru CV software?

Lintith,

Create a new VDISK and move the data and reduce the size of vdisk.

If you are reducing 400GB to 300GB there will be data loss.

Hi, LUN shrinking has been possible for some time. Check http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01712165/c01712165.pdf page 20

It's possible in Windows 2008 with some limitations.

LUN extending is as simple as changing the size on the vdisk properties and save changes.

Hi,
no, expansion the LUN is an online operation in OS Windows.
a) eva expansion to new size (basic disk)
b) windows diskpart to extend the original disk with the new extends - unallocated space)
the pain is one part of the reality
