EVA 4400 info request

Re: EVA 4400 info request

hi

are you sure you have EVA4400 and not another model

because if you have an old license and upgrade command view to vesion 10

you don't need a new license. from your attacment you have the correct license

for EVA4400

this has nothing to do with your managment server not discovering the EVA.

infact if you install a new managment server you get 60 days trial license for anything

do you still have the problem of command view on the managment server.

Regards.

Re: EVA 4400 info request

I wonder if you really have an EVA4400 too.

In general CV works with all kind of EVA, all EVA stuff is recently renamed to P6000, command view too.

Firmware and CV versions must fit, not every combination works (see compatibility sheet).

You are running CV10, the EVA is at least found now, but still uninitialized.

Please confirm your EVA model (HSV xxx on first page in CV or the model number from he chassis).

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: EVA 4400 info request

Hi All,

as you can verify from the "Type" field in attachment that it is indeed referring to HSV300. It is an EVA 4400, info from the chassis:

P/N:  AG637B

Thanks in advance

Re: EVA 4400 info request

First of all I would initialize the array and sync the time. Any changes after this?

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: EVA 4400 info request

Hi

You must  initialize the EVA to see if the license is good because

the license is for the EVA not the command view server and you can

initialize the EVA also if you have no license

Re: EVA 4400 info request

Hi All,

even if i did not initialize the array yet, at least i suppose that i should be able todetect SAN components as when accessing from the management module (where all SAN components are well displayed/detected)

However, when accessing from the management server, the server does not detect the EVA and i am receiving the "output1" in attachment.

I checked everything from FC connections and driver on the management server (windows server 2003 x64 and i downloaded / installed the corresponding HBA driver) and everything looks fine.

I also configured zoning on both SAN switches and i creted a single zone containing all 5 ports (2 ports for rx6600 servers, 2 ports for EVA controllers and 1 port for the management server) and i enable the zone config.

It is really weird and frustrating, dunno may be im missing something here.

Any suggestion / advice is really appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Re: EVA 4400 info request

"2 ports for EVA controllers " -> is that one from each controller?

Re: EVA 4400 info request

yes indeed, 2 ports for each EVA controller on both SAN switches (for redundancy)

Re: EVA 4400 info request

Hello Everybody and once again for more clarifications kindly find attached outputs from the management module and from the SAN switch.

As you will see from the output that everything is OK from the management module; however, when connecting to the management server where i installed the P6000 CV no SAN components can be detected.

I hope that i will find answers to that question on this valuable forum.

Thanks in advance for your precious time

Re: EVA 4400 info request

In the switch, what's the status of the ports where your servers are connected?

In the EVA you can go to the 'hosts' folder and see which wwns/servers the EVA can see.
