Re: EVA 4400 new firmware?????

If you are having specific issues, you can call HP Support and request getting the latest version that is not "officially" available on the internet as of yet..

v09534000

Re: EVA 4400 new firmware?????

Thank you ,my issue is replication is very very slow with 8 MBPS E1..and with replication the Database activity is very slow

is that firmware will resolve this problem ,because HP parnter in yemen(Natco) said this problem happened for all companies who used EVA4400,and there is a firmware can solve this problem but it's not official yet and we should try it!!!

should I try it or should not??

Re: EVA 4400 new firmware?????

What firmware are the EVA's at now?

Can you describe the connectivity between the EVA's? (SAN Switches, Distance between sites, etc)

Re: EVA 4400 new firmware?????

Dear
I don't know what firmware that will solve this problem because it's not official yet, this news I got it from HP Partner in Yemen

The distance between sites 35 km ,the bandwidth is 8 MBPS E1,connectivity normal as any storage

Our problem are
1- data replication operation is very very slow every 12 hours just 1%
2- Database activity also very slow

so,they said that firmware will solve these problems

Re: EVA 4400 new firmware?????

What version of firmware is currently on your EVA's?

What hardware are you using to connect the sites? IP Distance Gateways? MPR's? something else?

Re: EVA 4400 new firmware?????

1) Firmware 09534000 is mandatory on all EVAs that are using or have used Continuous Access

2) It's a final firmware version, just not released through the public web.

3) It contains fixes for Continuous Access but not for your case. For performance problems you must check PING latency on the replication link, and the buffer to buffer credits on the switches. There are parameters on the ports of the switches that have to be changed. See the Continuous Access planning guide.

Re: EVA 4400 new firmware?????

8MBPS E1 - is that 8 megabit per second (roughly 1 megabyte per second?)

How much data is it trying to replicate?

I would definately check out the utilization of the link. Check out the evaperf utility for checking utilization/performance of the EVA

Re: EVA 4400 new firmware?????

It's not public yet so doubt that should be shared here. If you want a more detailed description of what it fixes you should probably contact HP support.
