Took one apart, found these:
CYCLON
2 volt, 5.0AH, XCELL
Contains three soldered to a board.
Positive and negative connections only.
These batteries are $12/peice.
So thats like $45 per cache battery vs. $200.
Does anyone know if this will work, or are the batteries marked BAD on the circuit board to which they are soldered?

Re: EVA 5000 Cache Battery refurbish?
Hopefully get them soldered up tonight and have them charging by tomorrow.
Keep your fingers crossed.

SolutionThere was a thread a while ago from someone who had successfully changed the cells in the battery packs.
I've not managed to find the thread again, but do recall that he concluded that there was nothing in the battery pack itself that determined that it was bad.
Regards,
Rob

Re: EVA 5000 Cache Battery refurbish?
It is still charging. I will keep an eye on it for a few days to see if it charges.
I have a warning for low charge, but it does say the operational state of the battery is good as well as the state of the battery charger. I really hope I don't have to find a way to manually charge these.
At the moment I only have one cache battery installed but will be fixing that very soon.
So the answer is yes, you can rebuild your own cache batteries.

Re: EVA 5000 Cache Battery refurbish?
Granted, I only have one cache battery at the moment... I am working on getting the other three.
I have a low charge notice.
First day it recognized 2.5 VDC, after that (Its been four days) it has remained at 2.29 VDC.
Do I need to charge it?
Any idea how to charge it?
Single cell or all three cells at once?

Re: EVA 5000 Cache Battery refurbish?
How did you make out with this? The fact that it charged to 2.29 is a good sign.
