it is ideal to add disks in groups of eight.

but you can run however many you wish doesn't effect protection level.

No offense, but I think you did not get my point which was whether you suggest to use many 8-member disk groups.
(I've been working with the EVA since V1.0 and written my own RSS analyzer, so I guess I have some basic understanding how things work ;-)
