EVA 5000 disks in disk group

Hi
I have EVA 5000, with 107disks, we have space for 55 more. I have the disks, and i have added them. When i create new disk group with 55 drives, EVA put 49 in the new disk group. (disks are 147 GB) and leave 6 disks ungrouped.
The total capacity in the new disk group is 5256GB with protection level2, but usable capacity is 2047,99GB. Is this possible? I have then created two disk groups with 21 disk in each, and i have total capacity 2584 and available is in raid5 2047,99, this seems ok. So what should i do?

Thanks in advance Nemanja

Re: EVA 5000 disks in disk group

Usable Capacity that EVA is showing is just the next LUN size, in your case 2047.99 GB which is the max LUN size you can have in EVA. Although the actual usable space would be much higher.

Hope this clears the confusion.

I think this is a limitation with command view. Your useable capacity will always read 2047 until you dip under that number. That is what we have always seen.

Re: EVA 5000 disks in disk group

2047.99GB is the Vdisk size limits with a number of current XCS/VCS code versions. The latest version of XCS (atleast in the case of an EVA4400 - 00905100) supports Vdisk size larger than that.

So, what you see is totally fine. No need to do anything. When your disk group capacity starts to run low (as in you can't create any Vdisk with size >2047.99 then you would see that the value will drop to reflect that).
