What does the application call for?

Is this just for Data Storage? or is it a Database server? or some other app?

Re: EVA 6400 Vdisk size for optimum performance

The EVA spreads all vdisks over all disks on the disk group. I don't think you'll see any performace difference between 2 x 500 GB and 1 x 1TB for example.
One thing that can be relevant is if the OS has a I/O buffer for each LUN, then having serveral smaller LUNs can be an advantage as you can have more outstanding I/O requests in total. But probably the size of this buffer can be changed for a single LUN anyway.

Re: EVA 6400 Vdisk size for optimum performance

there will be lot of random read and write to the file system .The application will basically takes data from other server via ftp and process it and send to another server .there will be lot of random I/O .there be lot of independent process doing this collection and processing at one time .

1)Also what are the advantage if we split the a single filesystem of 3 tb to multiple small filesystem .

2) wil there be any advantage if we impliment LVM based striping ?
