EVA 6400 proactive disk drive failures

We are totally unclear and don't really understand when command view is alerting us on proactive drive failures, in the past three days we had three different drives that we were alerted on.      Which we are in the process of getting replacement drives for?    How nervous should we be about these?     If an actual drive does fail will it ungroup itself.

Thanks in advanced

Re: EVA 6400 proactive disk drive failures

Hey,

my level of nervousness would depend on if they were in the same disk group, in the same RSS, if they were reporting lots of bad SCSI Check Conditions.

RSS you casn check in 'controller configuration dump', SCSI check conditions you'd need to check the controller event log.

If you're running very high and constant load on FATA drives, maybe that's causing them to fail.

Yes, the controller will move the data, fail the disk & ungroup it when the error threshold crosses certain specified limits. Also please check the other events as mentioned by Johan Guldmyr
