Hi there, we are expanding online the capacity of an EVA 8400 2C6D with 9 additional drives enclosure, since EVA8400 has three Loops we are adding three enclosure per Loop.
We have expandend many EVAs online in the past with no problem at all, but for this EVA we have a concern, we know that for Loop1 and Loop3 the additional enclosure should be placed above the existing ones and that for Loop2 the additional enclosure can be placed above or below the existing ones.
from the HP EVA6400/8400 M6412A disk enclosure installation instructions:
In an EVA8400 configuration, add them above the
existing disk enclosures in both loop 1 and loop 3. For loop 2, disk enclosures could be added
either above or below the existing disk enclosures, depending on the number of disk enclosures
in the rack
The concern is that at the costumer site the existing two enclosure for Loop1 are right below the two controller and we cant put the additional three enclosure above the two existing ones since we must upgrade the EVA Online...
When adding the enclosure online we should move Top of Loops to one M6412A at a time and that is fine, the question is for Loop1 can we add the enclosure moving the bottom of Loop?
